Emanuel Munguia
Family Counselor Intern
Hello, My name is Emanuel Munguia.
I am a Marriage and Family Therapist Trainee currently completing my Master’s program in Counseling Psychology at California Baptist University, with an expected graduation date of December 2026. I bring over 10 years of experience working in diverse school settings, including public schools, non-public schools, private institutions, and specialized autism programs. Throughout my career, I have supported students from kindergarten through high school, including those in transition programs, which has given me a strong understanding of the academic, social, and emotional challenges youth face at different stages of development.
I am especially passionate about working as a clinical school-based therapist at the high school level, where I hope to continue supporting adolescents as they navigate identity, relationships, and life transitions. In addition to my clinical training, I currently work as a substitute teacher at Western Christian School, which allows me to stay closely connected to the educational environment and the day-to-day experiences of students.
My approach to therapy is grounded in authenticity, collaboration, and compassion. I believe therapy is a space where you can come as you are to be heard, understood, and supported without judgment. I focus on building a strong therapeutic relationship and working together to explore and process thoughts, emotions, and experiences.
I don’t view therapy as a way to fix someone. Instead, I see it as an opportunity to develop insight, build practical tools, and begin the process of healing and growth. My goal is to help you better understand yourself, reframe unhelpful thought patterns, and gain the confidence to navigate challenges on your own over time.
Outside of my professional work, I enjoy fishing, camping, building with Legos, watching movies, barbecuing, and spending quality time with my family and two dogs. I also bring over a decade of experience as a lacrosse coach, which reflects my passion for mentorship, teamwork, and personal growth both on and off the field.
