Philosophy and Approach to Counseling
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I approach counseling as a consulting activity where the client has asked me to consult with him or her to assist in understanding and responding positively to their needs. I generally function within rational emotive, human development, and cognitive behavioral frameworks.

As a Christian, I am aware of the influence our values have on our individual and family functioning. I strive to assist clients in understanding, clarifying, and applying their values to their own life needs.

I subscribe to and abide by the Codes of Ethics of the National Board of Certified Counselors, the Christian Association for Psychological Studies, and the Oregon Board of Licensed Professional Counselors and Therapists.

Education and Training
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Bachelor of Arts in Social Science – Marylhurst College
Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology – Western Evangelical Seminary

Major areas of coursework include counseling, marriage and family therapy, sexual abuse and offending behaviors, trauma, and psychopathology.

Continuing Education
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As a Licensed Professional Counselor, I am required to participate in ongoing continuing education annually. Continuing education consists of professional seminars, workshops, and conferences addressing issues and skills related to professional counseling.
